The redevelopment of the significant lands at Emmet Road in Inchicore, Dublin 8, site of the former St. Michael’s Estate, is progressing with the appointment of a team led by Bucholz McEvoy Architects to design and manage the construction of the planned affordable cost-rental development.
The team led by Bucholz McEvoy was appointed through a tender competition under the DCC Framework for Architect-led multi-disciplinary design teams.
Building on the Development Framework Plan prepared by an urban design team led by DMOD Architects in 2019, the team will develop affordable cost-rental proposals in order to achieve the objective of creating a sustainable new neighbourhood, integrated with the wider Inchicore community. As noted in a previous blog post the scale of the redevelopment creates theopportunity to provide a diverse range of homes with a mix of community and commercial accommodation designed around new public open spacesthat achieve a quality of place in a sustainable way.
The design team have initiated meetings with some of the local community groups and will be arranging a number of workshops and consultations with the community and other stakeholders in the coming months to inform the development of the design proposals.
