The National Disability Authority’s Annual Conference 2016 takes housing as its theme, with a particular focus on show casing strategies and approaches that can help foster supportive communities for people with disabilities.
The conference will be of interest to approved housing bodies, local authorities, planning, building and design professionals, policy makers, disability service providers and to individuals with disabilities, and their families, with an interest in housing.
There will be speakers from Ireland and overseas covering developments in design, technology, planning, building and sustainable communities. Victor Calise – Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, NYC and George Braddock, founder of Creative Housing Solutions, a US design and construction firm dedicated to innovative home solutions
Workshops
There will be three afternoon workshops.
•Workshop 1 Making Communities
This workshop is about the community – based supports that can assist people with disabilities to live in the community.
•Workshop 2 Independent living by design
This workshop is about how good housing design can support independent living.
•Workshop 3 Smart-en up your home; new technologies for independent living
This workshop is about the use of smart technology to promote independent living.
