Dublin City Council are currently in the process or providing a total of 130 housing units on 4 sites in its administrative area. The sites are located in Drimnagh, Darndale, Ballyfermot and Finglas.
All of these units are designed to a high specification with A3 Building Energy Ratings, Solar Photo Voltaic Panels, Triple Glazed windows, and a minimum 60 lifespan of all structural materials.Three building systems are being employed on these projects. Structural Insulated Panels are being used on the project in Cherry Orchard which are manufactured and almost fully assembled in Warren Point.Light Gauge Steel Framed Panels are being used in St Helena’s Drive and Mourne Road which are manufactured in Galway and assembled and completed on each site.Timber framed units are being used on the site in Belcamp which are almost fully assembled in Monaghan and delivered to site as ground and first floor ‘pods’ (see photo) which are craned into position with fully installed bathrooms and kitchens.Handover of the units is due to begin this summer, with the various systems achieving time savings of up to 50% over traditional construction methods.
